2026 is our 20th year teaching yoga in Cheltenham!
The years have passed by so quickly! Don’t we all say that 🙂 For 20 years Cheltenham Yoga has been established in our wonderful Regency town. When Gareth first arrived in Cheltenham in 2006, having taught for a number of years in London and abroad, he started running the classes in St Andrews Church Hall on Montpellier St. Chantal joined him shortly after (they met on a Thai yoga massage course in Samos – one of the Greek islands) and they established Cheltenham Yoga.
We’ve since remained in our wonderful yoga space in Montpellier appreciating the warmth of the hall in the winter months and the support and friendship of the church ‘staff’ year round – some of whom attend the classes now 🙂
Over the years we’ve added more classes, taken some away, introduced Thai yoga massage training courses and therapies, yoga therapy and personalised one to one yoga sessions and since 2020 we now offer our classes online too. 10 years or so ago we were often asked to create digital content in order to offer yoga classes on YouTube or other platforms. It wasn’t something that we felt comfortable with but then when covid hit and shut our classes down, online was the only way forward! We felt that we had to offer our lovely regular students a little bit of stability in those uncertain times and it certainly was a joy to see them all every day in our front room! Often we would have over 100 people online in the classes with lots of people Zooming in from abroad as they had met us on our yoga holidays which we started running back in 2007.
These yoga breaks are perfect for those that want to deepen their yoga practice (or even kick start it – we often have complete beginners!)  whilst exploring new places, meeting like minded people and eating delicious food (without the prep, cooking or washing up!). Many of our guests return year after year developing connections with their new found yoga holiday friends. They are great for solo travellers who like to be in a group setting but also can experience a bit of quiet time too 🙂
If you’re interested in our yoga holidays why not contact us for further info or check out our other website here.
We hope to be teaching for another 20 years as we continue our own daily yoga practices adapting according to our bodies and how we feel which is very much what our yoga teaching is all about. Viniyoga is a mindful, slow approach to hatha yoga that adapts according to the individual offering modifications and alternatives  along the way. It’s a very meditative yoga practice and stems from an ancient tradition rooted in the teachings of T.K.V.Desikachar and his father T.Krishnamacarya.
Why not join us for our 20th year and let us take you on a journey that will keep your body and mind healthy for another 20 years!
