How to choose the right yoga class for you!
Are you new to yoga or returning after a long break? You’ll undoubtedly notice that there are so many different kinds of yoga out there, some with long standing traditions (like ours!) and others that are a bit more gimmicky like yoga with goats (yes, seriously!) You’ll probably consider class location (close to home or work?), class times are really important too and of course the cost!
Some approaches to yoga are slow and meditative (as originally intended) or fast moving, more aerobic. One style might feature a set routine practiced every single class, other yoga styles will adapt according to the individual and modify if you have an injury, etc…
What we think is really important is to know a little about your teacher and by that we mean their yoga background and training. There are tons of training courses now that will teach you to become a yoga teacher in a week and even a weekend! Did you know that lots of yoga courses went online during covid and never returned to in person.
A yoga class will get physical whether it be gentle or more challenging; you might turn up at class one day with an injury or a niggling pain; a well trained and experienced teacher will be able to adapt the postures accordingly and likewise will be able to share with their students the tradition and philosophy of yoga.
So check your teacher out! Find out how long they trained for and how experienced they really are in goat yoga! 🙂
